The Liberals survive, barely
The governing Liberal party in Canada has narrowly escaped being forced to call an election because of a vote of non-confidence by the House of Commons. They were aided by the defection from the Conservatives by Belinda Stronach, who crossed the house to become a member of the Liberal caucus. I'm glad to see we avoided having to go to the polls for a second time in a year, but the government is still in a (rightfully) precarious position.
